The Stanley Picker Gallery is delighted to announce the appointments of avant-garde fashion designers Boudicca and acclaimed artist Nicole Wermers to the Stanley Picker Fellowship programme.
In a year that saw Stanley Picker Fellow Elizabeth Price win the Turner Prize and Design Fellows El Ultimo Grito receive the London Design Medal, the two new appointments follow those of Andy Holden and Marloes ten Bhömer (2011) and Matthew Darbyshire and Daniel Eatock (2010) in bringing further international prestige to the culture of practice-based research at the Faculty of Art, Design & Architecture at Kingston University.
Boudicca (Zowie Broach & Brian Kirkby) and Wermers are highly regarded for the significant contributions they have made to their chosen fields of creative practice, their individual Fellowship proposals both promising challenging and enriching interdisciplinary perspectives across the fields of art and design. The new Fellows commence their research activities at Kingston by introducing their practice through a programme of public events to be announced on the Gallery’s website over the coming weeks.
The Stanley Picker Fellowships provide funding towards developing innovative exhibition projects of international standing that form a core part of the Gallery’s programme. For the 2012 Fellowships more than 150 proposals were received from artists and designers based across the UK and internationally.
