Research within the Design School is of both national and international significance. As an integral part of the Design School it is essential in understanding the current and future questions that surround the design disciplines as well as providing a forum and space for their debate.

Engagement with these critical questions is fostered through an environment of experimentation, creative endeavor, and academic scholarship as well as the development of innovative objects, artifacts and materials.

The firm belief that strategic research directly feeds in to the development of our teaching materials and curriculum as well challenging existing paradigms underpins the Design School research culture.

The currency of our post-graduate and under-graduate courses is assured through the professional practice and research our staff are instrumental in leading.
