Reflection..

The idea of this module was to collate all of the workships undertaken this semeter as part of this module, named ‘process. In my opinion the reason that its named ‘process’ is as a result of the fact that it is based on experimentation, and the steps that you go through whilst recording the results. Trial and error is encouraged in order to either to find a solution or to make a mistake, that could, ultimately, be the root to the fruition of idea.
Human behaviour: This has been an experience that has taken me out of my comfort zone. At first it was extremely unusual taking photogrtaphs and videos of strangers in public. THroughout this it has made me the significance of understanding different human characteristics, and what better way to do this than record the actions of strangers. I felt like a stalker at times, but once I had a routine of places to go and observe it became second nature to me.
Human behaviour is a reflection of a circumstance, and similarly design is also a reflection of a period in time that tends to be the response to a human need. I found this intersesting as we observe humans in their natural environments. We get a true insight into their needs, and this could in turn, better design.

Colour and Material: This was a workshop that had stressed that sometimes the best outcomes are from unexpected beginnings. A small interesting experiment can be the seed of a promosing idea, and in other cases, a small part of a design process. The colour experiments have inspired my idea for the itiration workshop where i had established that i wanted to create a stool from a flexible mould filled with plaster. I looked at the colour workshop images and realised that it could be implemented into the plaster before it was poured into the moulds. I decided to add a pigment to see what happened. This workshop encouraged me to ‘play’ with different materials and colours in the future in order to go find a much more interesting journey to udnertake, also known as a design process.
Fictitious Island: This has beena  journey that has shown me the extent of a creative mind, sometimes we may not need to design an object, but an experience. Nelly proves how cross boundary and interdisciplinary design is an intersting and and engaging path to undertake. She has combined design and science to complete two ends of the spectrum united, and it is so motivational to me.

With the brief for the fictitious island i perceived that we should allow our imagination to encourage us to transcend to a virtual world that we have created. Although this may seem peculiar or unbelieveable, when you put alot of thought and passion into every aspect of its design, it becomes a well rounded and logical conclusion, and this is how it communicates a sense of reality to others. It takes you on a journey, to a place that others never contemplated visiting. This is originality in its purest form.
