MIND MAPPING

Thinking about how to organise our words and links  I though would be interesting to search some visual inphografics or mind maping. Probably helps to find our particular way of doing it beautiful.

TIME FOR TESTING

Hey guys today Anika, Fabienne and I started to think about the organization of the ideas on the wall how the words should be linked and then think afterwords how to trasform this in a beautiful piece. This draft study is just for all to be aware how we organized our thinking. We basically divided the wall in three main groups (The DESIGNER; The CLIENT and The AUDIENCE) and how the sub link words will be conected to one another ending up to the PURPOSE word which is the filter to feed the jumper as an outcome.

There are new drawing and new studies as well dividing this main groups by simmilar collors forming a triangle just  like a PRISMA where it can lead the chossen values to the outcome.

I will also post some images that can help us to decide how this infographic can finish in a nice and beautiful peace.

Fabienne please post afterwads the images of the second test.

Useful article about the design process, could help us by choosing our words

http://techitoutuk.com/knowledge/designprocess.html

Check it out, could be really useful for making the decisions about the words we want to show. This is exactly we are speaking about these days!

Trasparent Box

Here a representation of the idea I have just explained in Anna’s post.
Use trasparent(acrilic) cubes with words insede of it. We can also try to highlight the edges because acrilic absorb the light and reflect to its edges.

Idea on the feedback….

I like the Idea of Jumper hanging, rather then having blocks on floor,

we can even think of having blocks also in the air, like a Giant Wheel…. and I don’t know if movement is possible or not….

So, there is wool roll in the boxes, labelled with different names….. and wool is coming out from it and connecting to jumper…….

Idea details

So attached to the idea that i wrote about, one word could be made form rope led light..

or christmas tree lights..

other part from wood or styrofoam or even textile… big letters, that you have to move, and reorder

we have to take care of the details..

Idea

hey, so I was thinking, and this came in to my mind:

sorry for the bad quality, I hope you can understand it. This would be a big wood board on the wall for example with holes, or hooks.. if you first look at it, it is not clear what is on, but then you begin to guide/lead the a yarn through the holes/hooks, so at the end a word is coming out, could be design or process or design is a process… anything..i didn’t have enough yarn, so this is just PROC from the word PROCESS for now…the points could represent our words/values from our manifesto or anything, and also we could number each hook/hole, so people know step by step, so they follow the numbers, and would succeed the word at the end(or not to number, but then maybe they wont find the way..dont know.. or we should create a logical order somehow.. dont know, we have to think about it)… This is just an idea, but it’s interactive and I am sure it can be developed, too. Maybe it helps us to move into some direction.. We can still attach anything knitted to this, I think it could have some possibilities…

It can symbolize the ‘adding value’ philosophy, because the word is there, in a non visible way, and you have to make something to see that.. to fill with content..

And of course the typo would be well designed and measured, I just improvised here quickly..

I can imagine it with colors on a white board, but also black on a white board…

I can also imagine, that we find 2 more similar methods that makes the words visible, and we will have Design (with the first method) is a (with the second method) process. ( with the 3rd method) next to each other on the wall, so people have to go through the process to create the sentence. For example we could use christmas tree lights and form other part of the sentence from it, so you have to switch on the electricity to see. You could step on a switcher.. and then we have to find the 3rd method… It could be something that you can just see if you take on  special glasses.. some colorized one, so when you dont have the glasses on looks like a chaos, and when you have it on, everything gets clear…

a word could be from not colorful xmas tree lights- I know it’s not christmas tree light :) I couldn’t find a picture about how I imagined sorry- (white lights would work the best i think)

Or there is a huge paper with big chunky brushes next to it, and as a coloring book people should color some parts, so a word is coming out at the end.. and also the paper could be tear off papers, so it can be repeated.

Or we cut out huge letters and just put there  in a wrong order and people have to reorder it!! PSSRCOE — PROCESS  it could symbolize editing..

I think it is important, that any interaction thing has to be connected to design (color, filter, edit, organise, form, cut, paint…etc)

and here is a little inspiration, maybe it ll help to find out the best ways to demonstrate the idea…

NEW feedback

So I decided to create an own post for the feedback we just got from Colin. Fabienne sent him all the new ideas and plans, and this is the answer:

Colin’s feedback: “Yes, I think it’s moving in the right direction. You’re right, it is a bit space intrusive which could be an issue. I still think you have time to consider other manifestations of the idea before settling on this one eg. you could remove a ceiling tile and get a short length of broad diameter data conduit, hang it out of the ceiling with the strands then coming out of that ie. there are other less space consuming possibilities that may be more effective than what you currently have. Give it some thought, I feel there’s room for further development still to make your contribution better (and better). The words look reasonable. Similarly room for further development for growth in tandem with the installation.”

Until Tuesday we have to think about it, that day we will discuss it, but meanwhile we also could make a comment- brainstorming here, that’s why I created this post. Our installations success depends on it, and also if it is going to be exhibited or not!!

Exhibition text- deadline is the 11th of December!

It’s on the VLE but I put it here, because it’s quite urgent. Is there anyone who wants to write this? I thought of Fabienne, because I think she already wrote a lot about it, so she could just summarize it in 250 words, an also because she can write good stuff. So, Fabienne, wouldn’t you mind? If you are OK with it, thank you very much!! Or is it a group thing? Should we write it together?

As I discussed with most groups on Tuesday, each group must produce a 250-word text to accompany their exhibit in the exhibition for this module.

Each text will be formatted by module tutors (as curators of the exhibition) to a standard template, and displayed alongside its exhibit.

Think carefully about the work this text will do in relation to your exhibit. Will it describe the exhibit? Will it explain it? Will it seek to challenge or engage the viewer? Will it tell a story? The only requirement or constraint is the 250-word limit.

Please email your group’s text to me at  by 9am on Tuesday 11 December. Your text will be reviewed in relation to your exhibit, and amendments may be requested or made accordingly.
